πŸ’™ Coverage Captain in Action: Bristeria Clark πŸ’™

In June, Coverage Captain Bristeria Clark continued connecting with families across Dougherty County by participating in the Family Fish and Fun Rodeo and the Family Peer Ambassador Conference, sharing health coverage resources and listening to the experiences of community members.

One conversation stood out. Bristeria met someone who shared that they earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but can't afford private insurance. They described delaying preventive care and doctor visits because of cost. After learning more about Georgia's coverage gap and available resources, they expressed interest in sharing their story to help advocate for change.

As Bristeria reflected:

"That interaction reminded me why this work matters. Hearing directly from individuals and families who are making difficult decisions between health care and everyday expenses reinforced the importance of community outreach and education. Creating space for people to be heard not only increases awarenessβ€”it empowers people to become part of the solution."

Do you have a similar experience? If you've struggled to afford health coverage, fallen into Georgia's coverage gap, or had to delay care because of cost, your story can help drive change. Share your story today through Cover Georgia:
