Photojournalist Bill Biggart.
On September 11, 2001, while thousands ran from the towers, photojournalist Bill Biggart ran toward them. Camera in hand, he kept shooting as chaos unfolded, calm and focused while the world around him crumbled.
He was there when the South Tower fell, and he kept moving closer. Minutes later, as the North Tower collapsed, Bill was still working. His final photograph was taken just moments before he was killed.

Rescuers found his body days later, his cameras battered but intact. Inside them were nearly 150 images—his last record of courage, chaos, and humanity on that day.
Bill Biggart died doing what he had always done: bearing witness, no matter the cost. His photographs remain among the most haunting testaments to 9/11—truth carved in smoke and fire.
