In honor of Women’s Month, we’re highlighting successful women associated with Morris Brown College.
Today we’re highlighting Dr. Gloria L. Anderson:

For 65 years, Dr. Gloria L. Anderson, has been the epitome of Black excellence. We thank her for being a prominent role model for Black women and the scholars at Morris Brown College.

Dr. Gloria L. Anderson was born in Altheimer, Arkansas, where she would first embark on her academic journey. In 1956, she graduated from Altheimer Training High School and then attended Arkansas A&M and Normal College. This is where she would receive her B.S. degree in chemistry and mathematics. Then in 1960, Dr. Anderson enrolled at Atlanta University and obtained an organic chemistry M.S. degree.

During the 1960s, Dr. Anderson would teach at Morehouse and South Carolina State College, while working on receiving her Ph.D. Lastly, in 1968, she graduated from the University of Chicago with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry.

Upon gaining her Ph.D., she joined the faculty at Morris Brown College. In 1968 she became an associate professor and served as a Chair in the Chemistry Department. Throughout the 80s and 90s, she became the Dean of Academic Affairs, Interim President, and then the Dean of Science and Technology.

Dr. Gloria L. Anderson currently is the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
