Before my Mamiya 7 crashed out.

… organizing photographs for the next exhibition and book…

Portraits.
Years of my life.
People from different seasons, different neighborhoods, different versions of myself.

And the question I keep coming back to is simple:

How did we meet?

How did our lives intersect?

Some of these people have been with me so long I can’t even remember where it started.

Some arrived later.
Through a friend.
Through the internet.
Through work.
Through one conversation that somehow turned into family.

But every portrait keeps reminding me of the same thing:

Nobody becomes themselves alone.

There is a story behind every portrait.

A brother who understands what it means to carry the weight of being an artist.

A friend who has known you since childhood and still knows when to tell you to get out of your own way.

Someone who entered your life quietly and somehow became family.

The best friends little sister (also considered my little sister) who has been there almost as long as memory itself.

Different people.
Different seasons.
Different chapters.

That’s what this work is becoming.

Not just a collection of portraits.

A map of my life told through the people who have walked with me..
