Afghanistan to the Olympic Games.

with Muhammad Ali.

The Greatest didn't just support 
women's boxing theoretically.
Dr. Paul and Ali worked together. 

Ali chanted for Dr. Paul's 
female fighters to be put on the card. 
That partnership gave women's boxing its first legitimate spotlight.

There was no equipment designed for female boxers.

So Dr. Paul engineered it himself, 
protective gear that allowed 
women to train and compete without unnecessary risk.

In 1978, the rules he wrote 
were officially adopted.

A young woman walks into a gym in 1975. 
Asks to learn to box. In that era, the answer was almost always rejection. Dr. Paul looked at her courage and said, "Okay, come on out." The next day, several women showed up. He never turned them away.
