Wendy’s

I went out to dinner expecting a normal, quiet night… and somehow ended up being the center of attention in the whole restaurant 😬🍽️
From the start, the service was off.
Drinks took a long time.
Food came out wrong twice.
Our server kept disappearing like we weren’t even a priority.
By the time the bill came, I was already frustrated—but I still left $40.
Not because the service was amazing.
But because I’m not the type to leave nothing, and I do understand people are working.
Still, I’m also not going to pretend bad service didn’t happen.
In my mind, $40 was already more than fair for how the night went.
Then I saw what was written on the check.
A note basically saying $40 wasn’t acceptable…
and that they were adjusting it to zero, like it was some kind of punishment.
That’s when I stopped staying quiet.
I asked for the manager, handed over the receipt, and said if staff are going to handle tips like that, they can explain it to every table I walk past on the way out.
And yes—people around us definitely noticed.
Because if someone is bold enough to write something like that on a customer’s check, they shouldn’t be surprised when it doesn’t stay between the lines.
Now I’m hearing I should’ve just left it alone and walked out quietly.
But I don’t think I should have to accept being talked down to over a tip I wasn’t even obligated to leave.
A tip is supposed to reflect appreciation.
Not feel like a demand.
If $40 wasn’t enough for that kind of service… then what exactly would’ve been?
Be honest—did I overreact, or did they cross the line first? 👀🔥 See less
