📌 GLP-1 receptor agonists are changing the game in weight management 🏋️ and diabetes care. They help regulate blood sugar, curb appetite 🍽️, and even have heart-protective benefits ❤️. But, like any medication, they come with side effects—some mild, some worth paying close attention to.

🌟 The most common? Constipation and nausea. These meds slow down how fast food moves through your stomach 🥗 and intestines—this is why you feel fuller longer, but it also means digestion can get sluggish. The good news? Most people can manage these symptoms with fiber, hydration 💧, and over-the-counter remedies like magnesium or stool softeners.

🤢 Nausea and vomiting happen for the same reason—slower gastric emptying. Your stomach holds food longer, which helps with appetite control but can sometimes lead to discomfort. Eating smaller meals and avoiding greasy foods can make a big difference.

💡 Diarrhea and acid reflux are the flip side. When digestion slows down, some people experience loose stools or acid backing up into the esophagus. A balanced diet and not lying down right after eating can help.

Fatigue is another one. Since GLP-1 medications change how your body processes glucose and insulin, energy levels can fluctuate. This usually improves as your body adapts.

🏋️‍♂️ A lesser-known but important effect? Muscle loss. Like all weight loss medications, GLP-1s don’t just reduce fat—they also lead to some loss of muscle mass, often more than other treatments. The fix? Make your muscles work. Strength training and a protein-forward diet are key to preserving muscle while shedding fat.
