Story time:

I lost my ID on the lakefront trail this weekend. It was windy, drizzling, and chilly out. I was so focused on getting my steps in, keeping my hat from blowing away, and rushing back home to beat the rain that I didn’t notice it was no longer tucked away in my jacket pocket. I retraced my steps for two hours. No luck. I reported it lost and paid for a new one. I also said a prayer that someone kind would find it.

I was panicked about it ending up in the wrong hands. But my prayer was answered. Twenty minutes after paying for the new ID, I got the email! A kind neighbor had found it! She had looked me up, called finding me “karma,” and explained she is also a writer and had no idea where to go with her autobiography. So, I have my old ID back, a new one of the way, and a new writing connection. We exchanged hugs and I signed one of Zora, the Story Keeper for her. There are still kind people walking among us.

I’m looking forward to helping her get her book into the world. Thank you for your kindness, Ms. Bernice.
