Lately I’ve been doing a deep dive into my ANCESTORS 👀! Studying the legacy of which I come. Seeing the hundreds of women and men that came before me has been powerful. Seeing which family lines stopped and which ones flourished.
Searching land deeds, birth, marriage, and death certificates. I’m studying old census and slave logs to find my family story. Why??? One to connect with some dope people. Another to see what great-great-great grandma and grandpa was manifesting and doing.
As I do this and have went all the way back to 1805 in some cases one things stands out! For ME, as I search I’m wondering what type of man, of type of father, what type of husbands my ancestors were. Did they own land, how many years did they live; were they free…
Money, materials and modes of travel didn’t cross my mind. I’m wondering about the lines that 🛑 stopped and what did they want for their legacy. Was it to BE RICH or continue to exist.
I look at some of the wealthiest men and many have no relationship with their children; multiple failed marriages! Many women will love you when you got the 💼, but how many families can truly say we made it. We loved wholeheartedly along the way, we stayed grounded in our purpose, we gave honor to our past and created a loving environment for our children to thrive.
My daughter is my lifeline. It takes balance but my goal for my legacy is longevity and love. My daughter already cooks with me. She shops with me. She reads with me. Being present with my baby daily I feel rich, I feel my purpose being fulfilled. That’s it. I give two 2️⃣ f***s about the world’s expectations. I wish more would lock in and focus on family and what’s important at home and let the chase of the algorithm go 🙌🏾!
