TAX Filing Deadline for W-2 and 1099 Forms
Taxpayers who paid employees or independent contractors in 2023 are reminded to file all required payment reporting forms by January 31, 2024.
If you operate a business and pay employees, you generally must file a Form W-2 for each employee with the Social Security Administration (SSA) by January 31. You must also send each employee a copy of their W-2
January 31 is also the deadline for 1099 forms if you are required to file 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC forms.
If you are an employee, you should expect to receive your W-2 from your employer soon, if you have not received it already.

IRS has $1.4 billion in old tax refunds — here’s how to tell if some of it’s yours — CNBC "We're trying to connect over a million people with their share of $1.4 billion in potentially unclaimed refunds," said IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig.

Let me try and explain this to you before you become frustrated this tax season:
If you go to a preparer today and they submit your personal taxes to the IRS within 24-72 business hours the IRS status is going to show "Returned Received". This does not mean that your return has been reviewed by and IRS rep yet. In fact I promise you it hasn't... they aren't reviewing until the end of the month so there is no need to call your preparer about this, nor will the IRS speak with you if you call them at this point. Once it goes to the "Refund Approved" status... still don't call your preparer because the IRS has up to 21 business days to process your return. At that point the preparer has nothing to do with your return status nor does the preparer receive any status updates on your return until it has been paid to the taxpayer. We look at the site and enter the information just like you do for a status at that point. Unless you receive letter from the IRS stating that they are withholding your money, there is nothing further for us to do. Also, if you knew you had financial debt that would impact your return amount and you failed to communicate that to your preparer... there is NOTHING we can do to help you if the government takes your check.
