In the summer, the activities that we love to enjoy, take their toll on our hair. Chlorine from the pools, salt from the sea, sand from the beach. Tying our hair up in different scarves that just look cute but damage our hair during the time we’re wearing them. All of these activities and more cause dreadful damage to our hair during the summer months. Sometimes at the cost of just looking cute. We have to be sure that we take care of our hair differently in each season so there are different products that you’ll have to use each season.
The summer months tend to make our hair frizzy because of the humidity. Overexposure to the sun can cause dryness, breakage and protein breakdown. For this reason it’s recommended that during this season protective styles like braids or twist are more likely to be your friend. Using a lighter moisturizer, conditioner, or hairdressing also helps. This keeps your pores from becoming blocked, as well as weighing your hair down with excess oils. In the fall and winter, the cold weather causes us to pull out our hats, causing even more damage with breakage and drying our scalp out. Not to mention the cold bitter winds. Start with a good hydrating shampoo. Balance is everything!
