There is a viral clip going around of a pastor saying we are to “pray destruction” over people who have backslidden in the church. I understand the concern he is trying to express, but I do not believe Scripture calls us to pray destruction over people. That feels more like reacting in the flesh than walking in the Spirit.
If someone is truly chosen and walking in alignment with God, there is no need to curse others. God is just, and He is fully capable of dealing with every situation in His own way and timing. Our responsibility is to release people and trust Him with the outcome.
The Bible does not instruct believers to pray harm over others. Instead, it teaches us to turn people over to God and let Him handle correction, discipline, or restoration as He sees fit.
Our role is obedience, intercession, and truth—not vengeance.
P.S In fact, a lot of Scripture points the other direction:
Matthew 5:44 — love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you
Romans 12:19 — leave vengeance to God
Galatians 6:1 — restore someone gently.
Unless Israel accepts Jesus Christ, they cannot be saved. Israel, as a nation, rejected Christ, and without repentance and acknowledgment of Him, they are no longer aligned with God under the New Covenant.
The New Testament shifts the focus from physical lineage to spiritual identity. True Israel is not defined by ancestry, but by faith. As Jesus explains in John 4:23–24, “the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth… God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
At one time, salvation was understood to be centered among the Jews. However, Christ revealed that a new covenant was coming—one that would extend beyond ethnic boundaries. Salvation would no longer be based on lineage, but on a personal, spiritual acceptance of Him. Under this covenant, belonging to God is determined by faith in Christ, not by physical descent.
