Last month, three years of alumni from our Community-Centered-Design class gathered for the annual CCD reunion. The community of civic- minded planners, artists, community leaders, and government workers shared space at the local cooperative coffee shop, the Ke’nekt. We released the 2025 CCD publication, shared backstories of creative community engagement updates, spent time learning about participatory budgeting, and collaborated on utopian city prototypes.

The cohort’s three biggest priorities: Mother Nature, moving through the city, and collective ways of living.

The application for this year's CCD cohort is now open and includes an updated price.

The Ke’nekt, Build a Better Blacksville, Austell Local Food Task Force, and the South River Watershed Alliance join CCD as community partners this year.

The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Excellence Awards recognize projects in metro Atlanta that exemplify cutting-edge, livable design that enhances the surrounding community and support the goals and policies of the Atlanta Region’s Plan. The nomination process is open through June 26.

Submissions will be reviewed by an interdisciplinary jury of professional planners, designers, sustainability experts, architects, and developers in the Atlanta region.

Final award selections will be made in August. Award winners will be recognized at ARC’s annual State of the Region.
