Umoja (Unity)

Unity asks us to move beyond standing side by side and into working with one another.

Umoja reminds us that real change happens through teamwork: when we listen deeply, anticipate one another’s needs, strengthen what each person brings, and hold each other through our differences. This is how collective work becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

The song invites us to cultivate unity by practicing love with lyrics like “All we got is each other, all we got is today” and “I know we can change ‘cause we know how.”

As we close out the year, we’re honoring this milestone in a new way.

From December 26 – January 1, we invite you into the Spirit of Kwanzaa — an asynchronous, seven-day reflection rooted in the Nguzo Saba (the seven principles of Kwanzaa).

Each day, we’ll share:
- One Kwanzaa principle
- A song to carry you through the day
- A simple prompt for your own reflection

Take a few minutes to read, listen, and reflect. Then join the conversation by sharing your thoughts here in the comments.

At the end of the seven days, we’ll gather your reflections into our first Listener Voices collection — a living record of the wisdom, stories, and commitments of this community.
