Today, our new record “Lift” is officially out and in the world. It’s a record that has seen its share of twists and turns, ups and downs, different roads, weird delays, and finally the good light of day. We are elated to be able to share the whole thing today. A lot of sweat, persistence, time, miles, and love went into this album. The first Hunger Anthem record was done on a Tascam 4-track, this one definitely shifts gears from that, but hopefully has maintained a similar spirit and approach. Many thanks to Cornelius Chapel Records in Birmingham, AL, and to Mike Albanese and Joel Hatstat for their efforts and invaluable input, and bringing the album to where I heard and hoped it could be.

This year has been a very difficult one personally with loss and struggle, and it’s good to end it by sharing something that took a lot of work and means a great deal to us. I’d like to dedicate this release day to Will Hart and Kelly Hart. For those who don’t know, Will passed away suddenly the day after Thanksgiving here in Athens. He was a founding member of the Elephant 6 collective, a brilliant musician and artist, a visionary with a true heart. Kelly and Will were kind and gracious to me since the first days I moved to Athens, and I’ll always be grateful for that. Much love to all their family and friends, and to everyone who was touched by Will’s life.
