Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences. Ayurveda works with the body while yoga works with the mind. It is a system of health that is thousands of years old.
It is a holistic way of looking at healing and well-being that can offer a useful approach to how we take care of ourselves. Its wisdom is simple and applicable.
I share this here because not everyone has found healing through conventional Western medicine, and you cannot medicate trauma.
Yoga offers practices that have been proven effective through both empirical, evidence based Western research AND through thousands of years of anecdotal, experiential evidence. I often tell people, "Don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself. Really try it."
I believe we, as a planet, as a society, will go furthest when we are inclusive of all modalities of health and healing. Both Eastern wisdom and Western medical traditions have much to offer. Are we doing ourselves a disservice by leaving them out just because we don't understand them?

Trauma ruptures boundaries. It is a rupture of your boundaries every time something happens that you didn't have a choice in.
When trauma happened, the body may have learned:
🛑 It's safer not to feel
🛑 It's safer to disappear
🛑 It's safer to give myself away
🛑 It's safer to stay hyper alert
We rebuild boundaries not through logic or explanation -- but through sensation, movement, breath, and relational attunement.
Reestablishing boundaries restores safety, agency, and connection.
