First race with a full squad this season! 🧡 🧡 Let’s get it started!! 🔥🔥

Just got to read my first ever Veal Report, a detailed write up about what goes on in ’s mind during racing and the process of thinking through race tactics, as well as the highs and lows of racing! Here are a few excerpts from his write up. In the Master’s Race, Ed finished 🥇“I bided my time and watched for the moment I know so well in bike racing, that little lull after a full gas launch, that little hesitation, that moment when the line gets strung out, somebody looks back, somebody realizes the whole pack is on their wheel and that split second of disappointment causes them to sit up and slow down.

That was the moment I wanted.

I sat there patient, maybe sixth wheel, waiting for the elastic to stretch just enough.

Then it happened.

The group got strung out. The rider in front looked back, saw the train on his wheel, slowed up and went left across the road and in that instant I countered. I launched.” In the M 1/2, Ed for 🥈 “I was third wheel and the rider in front of me gassed out and couldn’t hold on to Nico’s attack. That tiny gap and trying to get around him to close was enough. I couldn’t close it fast enough. I couldn’t get around quickly enough. Nico got separation, and that tiny gap into a headwind, turned out to be the winning move.
He committed. He stuck it.

Me and the other rider worked for a lap but the truth was we were both cooked. Then with one lap to go he sat on and basically told me he was a track sprinter and wanted to sprint for second.

Fair enough.

So I rode that final lap with my head on a swivel, looking left, looking right, waiting for the jump, trying to stay composed through every corner. Then into the final s-bend corner he attacked. I got on his wheel right away. It was savage. Coming out of the last S-bend his bike drifted just a touch wide and I came off his wheel hot.

We were neck and neck, drag race all the way to the line.

Bike throw.

Got him.

Second place.”
