We’re incredibly proud to share that Matininó, a film by the remarkable Gabriela Díaz-Arp, will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in the Documentary Feature Competition.
This project means so much to us. It marks our first U.S.–Dominican co-production, bringing together a deeply committed and inspiring group of artists and collaborators across borders. Matininó reminded us, again and again, of the power of storytelling to bring people closer, to hold space for one another, and to imagine healing in a violent world where that can sometimes feel out of reach.
We want to thank the Villanueva family for welcoming us with such generosity and for trusting us to help bring this story to shore. And to our extraordinary, truly out-of-this-world crew across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, thank you for everything you gave to this film. Every detail carries your care, your craft, and your heart.
This film exists because of all of you. Tribeca, we’re coming home!

Light Study No.2: One light. Five positions. Completely different portraits.
Amelia and Evelyn spent the day working with a single light, slowly shifting its position and watching how each small change transformed the mood of the portrait. They began with flat lighting, simple, direct, and even, before lifting the light into butterfly, letting soft shadows form beneath the chin. As the light moved to a 45° angle, loop lighting introduced a subtle shadow under the nose. Pushing it higher and closer carved out that classic Rembrandt triangle beneath the eye. Finally, they brought the light fully to the side, splitting the face into shadow and highlight.
Same light, moved through space—each shift creating a completely different feeling. Which one pulls you in the most?
