Athens PBJs
Statement of Solidarity
Athens PBJs bridges friendships and builds community among people experiencing homelessness and those who are not.
We believe that God has created all people in His image and with a divine love that we can never fully comprehend but are called to reciprocate by indiscriminately and intentionally loving all people. We long to see the Kingdom of God in Athens as it is in Heaven. This Heavenly Kingdom includes every race, tribe, nation, and tongue.
As a community, we collectively mourn the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and too many others as a result of racial injustice and oppression. Unfortunately, racism remains across our nation and in our Athens community. We condemn all forms of racism, white supremacy, systemic discrimination, and police brutality and stand in solidarity with all people of color. Acknowledging that we do not have all of the answers to such problems, we will continue to devote ourselves to listening to and learning from our friends of color, including through engaging in difficult conversations regarding race and privilege in our own community.
As we pursue our mission of bridging friendships and building community with people regardless of race or other differences, we stand arm-in-arm with the black members of our community and strive to daily love our neighbors as Christ has loved us.
Athens PBJs will be having a four-part Men's Bible Study starting tomorrow, March 27th! Pick-up at 5:30 in front of the Grill. Spread the word!
