Kristen Baskin is a writer and sometimes consultant in Athens, Georgia. She likes to put interpretations of small pieces on stage. The Lora(x) is a short piece based on the Dr. Seuss book and changes the main character into a female. The Lorax was written while Dr. Seuss was grieving for his wife, Helen Palmer, who died of sadness. She wrote many books with him, wildly grew his business and after she died, was quickly replaced by Audrey Dimond. Her last letter says the following:

“See photo”

As someone who has thought of her voice as a liability to others, the book’s message spoke to Kristen about how maddening getting one’s voice stolen can be. The Lora(x) is inspired by friends and kindness.

"Witness"

A conversation is created when two movers who are also manual therapists/bodyworkers witness one another's energetic patterns. By "listening" via our hands, we help the other lean into the way each of our bodies wants to move. By witnessing one another (drawing from our experience with Authentic Movement), we each help the other unwind into new truths and understandings. A fully embodied approach to listening with our senses of touch, vision, and hearing with our hearts.
