Exciting News!! Welcome to Blue Springs Elementary!

My name is Debbie Hirsch and I am thrilled to join the Blue Springs Community! I have been teaching for 10 years and in education for 17 years. I have taught special education in self-contained, co-taught and resource class settings both here and in Georgia. My husband and I are empty nesters and moved to Athens from Cu***ng, Georgia in 2024. I have been married for 30 years and have 2 grown children. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, reading, and spending time with my family on the lake. I am looking forward to a fabulous year!

Governor Kay Ivey has officially launched the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge for Alabama students!

Students are encouraged to read 6 books this summer and complete a reading log along with a short reflection or drawing about what they learned about the United States of America.

Completed entries must be mailed by August 1, 2026.
