While you're enjoying a pint on the Beer Pier this summer, it's important to remember that just a few decades ago, the Astoria Waterfront was lined with canneries and fish processors. You don't have to wonder what that was like because you can just ask your favorite local Astorian.

While you're with your favorite local person, take them to the Beer Pier and buy them a rice bowl and a beer. Possibly during live music with Dan Casula on the Pier this Friday? We think yes.

In the future, when robots do all of our jobs,* we will have much more time to plant potatoes and dream. More time to crochet hats, paint little ceramic animals, and take photos of birds. The Oregon Coast will experience one of the lowest tides of the year today (Tuesday, 7/14). It's a great time to be on the beach with more exposed tidepools and coastal rock formations than usual. We have great tideland around here. And we also have a great beer called Tide Land - a low-ABV stout blended with our finest bourbon and whiskey barrel-aged imperial stout stock - making a comeback this weekend. Even better?
