Today, we celebrate a remarkable milestone—3 years of Operation Gateway and the visionary leader who made it all possible, our Executive Director and Founder, Philip Cooper.

3 years ago, Philip took a leap of faith with a vision that many could only imagine. He believed that every person deserved hope, dignity, and a genuine opportunity for a fresh start. What began as an idea has become a movement that has transformed countless lives and strengthened communities across Western North Carolina and beyond.

Philip, thank you for having the courage to pave the way when the path didn’t yet exist. Thank you for leading with compassion, serving with humility, and refusing to give up even when the journey wasn’t easy. Your dedication has inspired all of us to dream bigger, work harder, and serve more faithfully.

Because of your leadership, individuals have found housing, families have found stability, justice-involved citizens have found new beginnings, youth have discovered hope, and communities have experienced the power of people who truly care.

On behalf of the entire Operation Gateway family—our staff, board members, volunteers, partners, and those whose lives have been impacted by this organization—we simply want to say thank you.

Thank you for believing in a mission bigger than yourself.
Thank you for creating opportunities where others saw obstacles.
Thank you for pouring your heart into this organization every single day.
And thank you for paving the way for all of us to be part of something that is changing lives.

The legacy you’re building is measured not just in years, but in every life touched, every barrier broken, and every door opened.

Happy 3rd Anniversary, Operation Gateway, and congratulations to our founder, Philip Cooper. We are honored to walk this journey with you, and we look forward to all that is still to come.

With gratitude,

Your Operation Gateway Family 💙

💜 Happy 2-Year Anniversary with OG to our incredible Change Agent, Lynn! 💜

Across the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections, Lynn has become a name recognized by countless women seeking a second chance as returning citizens. For the past two years, she has been a steady, compassionate, and unwavering force on the Operation Gateway team, demonstrating every day what “boots on the ground” truly means.

Boots on the ground work comes from the heart. ❤️ If you don’t have the heart for this work, it simply won’t work. Lynn has met every challenge placed before her with grace, determination, and excellence. She leads from lived experience, and because of that, she has earned nothing but respect on these streets.

Lynn has also remained steadfast in her own recovery journey, demonstrating what it truly means to live a lifestyle of recovery. She is proof that recovery is possible, and for anyone who wants it, she is an outstanding role model.

Throughout her career at Operation Gateway, Lynn has consistently given more than what was ever asked of her. She has spoken wherever she has been invited, sharing her story in meetings, treatment centers, detention centers, and communities across North Carolina. Everywhere she goes, she carries a powerful message of experience, strength, and hope.

She has also taught life skills classes, helping equip all women with the tools they need to build successful futures. Beyond her professional contributions, Lynn is a wonderful friend to so many of us at Operation Gateway. She continues to demonstrate personal growth, humility, compassion, and servant leadership every single day.

Lynn truly is a living, breathing embodiment of what it means to be a Change Agent. We at OG are grateful for your heart, your dedication, and your commitment to changing lives. We look forward to celebrating many more milestones with you.

We love you, Lynn! 💜👏
