A message from our Hillside Family Liaison:
At Hillside, we are committed to making our school a place where every single student can thrive. To better support our neurodivergent, special education, and early childhood learners, we are launching a school-wide initiative to build dedicated sensory spaces! These spaces will provide students across the school with a safe, quiet place to regulate, focus, and recharge when the busy school day becomes overwhelming.
Smaller projects get funded much faster on DonorsChoose, so we’ve broken our school's needs down into three targeted phases. If you are able to donate or simply share these links with your network, you will be making a massive difference for the wonderful kids at Hillside:
🟢 Phase 1: Calming Corners & Active Seating (Funding cozy tents, crash pads, and movement chairs to help students regulate their bodies!) https://www.donorschoose.org/project/safe-spaces-for-regulation-sensory-seat/10338973/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=directlink&utm_campaign=tpc_complete&utm_term=teacher_4507080&rf=directlink-dc-2026-06-tpc_complete-teacher_4507080&challengeid=22639110
🔵 Phase 2: Light, Sound, & Tactile Exploration (Funding calming light covers, bubble lamps, and soothing tools to lower anxiety throughout the school day!) 🔗 https://www.donorschoose.org/project/sensory-sanctuaries-cozy-corners-for-ac/10339003/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=directlink&utm_campaign=tpc_complete&utm_term=teacher_4507080&rf=directlink-dc-2026-06-tpc_complete-teacher_4507080&challengeid=22639110
🟡 Phase 3: Early Childhood (ECSE) Foundations (Funding specialized therapeutic seating and fine-motor boards tailored for our littlest preschool learners!) 🔗 https://www.donorschoose.org/project/little-steps-big-strides-seating-and-t/10334079/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=directlink&utm_campaign=tpc_complete&utm_term=teacher_4507080&rf=directlink-dc-2026-06-tpc_complete-teacher_4507080&challengeid=22639110
