How Do I Deal With Doubt?
How do you deal with doubt? Doubt is a normal part of your faith journey. Life will throw things at you that can cause you to question everything you thought you knew to be true.
The sudden unexpected loss of a friend, or loved one. Wars and rumors of wars. Injustice. Poverty. Atrocities so evil you wonder, how can a good and loving God allow such a thing to happen? Your foundation can be shattered in a moment.
In some Christian circles, to doubt is a sin. “Do not question the ways of God!” they will say. Meanwhile, as your questions go unanswered, the enemy stokes the fire of doubt, until the blazing fire consumes every last bit of hope you had in God and His goodness.
Jesus was not intimidated by Thomas’ doubt. He dealt with the doubt of his disciples not by showing his wins, but his wounds. Not by convincing their minds, but moving their hearts.
“Thomas, these wounds I incurred were so you could believe in me.”
If you’re not converted by the sermons, or convinced by the signs, consider the scars.

I’m starting to think through my New Year’s resolutions, and God led me to Matthew 25, the parable of the 10 bridesmaids.
If you know the passage, you’ll see all 10 had equal access to the bridegroom but 5 missed their opportunity to be part of the wedding celebration. All 10 were invited, all 10 brought their lamps, all 10 fell asleep. The only difference between the wise and the foolish bridesmaids is they didn’t have enough oil in reserve.
The Lord showed me, the reason they didn’t have enough oil is they failed to prioritize what was most important until it became urgent. And by the time it was urgent, their window of opportunity had closed.
As we strategize about our goals for this next year, I want to encourage you to be full of wisdom. Don’t wait until a crisis to prioritize your relationship with God. Don’t put off what’s most important only to become enslaved by the “tyranny of the urgent.”
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.
