Thank you Arlington Rotary!
DUCK DASH DOLLARS AT WORK!
At its first Board meeting of the 2019-20 Rotary year, the Arlington Club approved the following donations:
$25,000 - the Arlington Community Food Bank - support for its Meals to Monday program that fills a gap for students in need over weekends and holidays over the next year.
$11,714 - Arlington Boosters Club - to purchase a replacement microphone system for the music and drama departments to use during performances at Arlington High School.
$5,000 - Cocoon House - Non Profit's Maternity Group Home in Arlington supports homeless pregnant teens and mothers and their babies.
These donations were funded through tickets sales to the Great Stilly Dusk Dash on the Fourth of July! The Duck Dash is the Rotary Club of Arlington's only fundraiser each year. Thanks to its generous sponsors, the Rotary Club of Arlington invests 100% of ticket sales back into the community. In 2019, ticket sales were over $86,000 and $127,500 was raised through sponsorships. Half of the sponsorship dollars are being set aside to give away as scholarships for 2020 graduates from local high schools.
In 1987, the Rotary Club of Arlington (then the North Snohomish County Rotary) started the Great Stilly Duck Dash to fulfill a $10,000 pledge towards the construction of the Arlington Boys and Girls Club. Since then, the Rotary Club of Arlington has raised over $3 million dollars through Duck Dash ticket sales to benefit our communities. The Rotary Club of Arlington supports projects that enhance life for kids, seniors and the communities of Arlington, Lakewood and Darrington. The proceeds of each Duck Dash ticket goes directly back to our community!
Duck Dash dollars are used to support organizations like:
OUR COMMUNITY: Arlington Food Bank, Stillaguamish Senior Center, Improvements at Haller Park (Adventure Playground (2014) and Splash Pad (2019)), Park Trail Maintenance, Relay for Life, Oso Mudslide Victims
OUR SCHOOLS: Scholarships for graduates - Arlington, Darrington, and Lakewood, Drama & Music Clubs, Robotics, Arlington Education Foundation
OUR KIDS: Boy Scouts, Arlington Cocoon House, Kids Kloset, Boys & Girls Club, Youth Dynamics, Little League
All this and much more!
