Cover All Bases
06/18/2026
Today, the baseball community lost a man who impacted far more lives than most people will ever know.
Before Cover All Bases became ours in 2019, it was built and led by Chris Gay. Long before we owned the facility, Coach Cam spent years giving lessons there. Coach Brian remembers taking hacks off the iron mikes for hours. Chris would throw batting practice for Coach Cam as he prepared for his minor league seasons.
Chris wasn’t just a baseball coach, he was a baseball lifer.
A standout left-handed pitcher at University of Texas at Arlington, Chris signed with the Chicago White Sox organization after college and pursued a professional career. Years later, he returned to UTA to complete the degree he had left behind when baseball called, earning his bachelor’s degree nearly three decades after beginning his journey. His story became one of perseverance, resilience, and finishing what he started.
Chris has battled cancer and faced incredible challenges with the same toughness and positivity that defined his life. Rather than letting adversity define him, he used it as another opportunity to inspire the people around him.
For decades, Chris dedicated himself to developing players throughout Arlington and the DFW area. Through Cover All Bases and the Arlington Heat organization, he helped thousands of young athletes learn the game, build confidence, and pursue their dreams. Many of those players went on to play high school, college, and professional baseball, but Chris measured success by much more than statistics. He cared about people first.
One of the most notable players he helped mentor was former Major League All-Star Hunter Pence, who once called Chris the most influential coach in his life.
More importantly, Chris was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband to Kim and a proud father to Christopher, Kristen, and Kaitlyn. His family was always at the center of everything he did, and his impact on them will continue through generations.
The Arlington baseball community is stronger because Chris Gay was part of it. His fingerprints are all over the players, coaches, facilities, and programs that continue to serve young athletes today. Cover All Bases exists in its current form because of the foundation he built and the passion he poured into the game.
Thank you, Chris, for the lessons, the opportunities, the batting practice, the belief, and the example.
Your impact will continue to be felt every time a young player picks up a bat, takes the mound, or learns to love this game.
Rest easy, Coach.

Good evening CAB Family,
I’m excited to officially introduce a new step forward for our pitchers—the CAB Pitching Program, launching April 13. This program is comprehensive, so we’ve also set up zoom meeting to review all the specifics.
Zoom Meeting is this Wednesday April 8th at 7:15 PM CST
Zoom Meeting Link (https://us04web.zoom.us/wc/75873194563/join?ref_from=launch&fromPWA=1&wpk=wcpk%7B0%7D%26%26%26%26wcpk63f4b24aef1be187d0db6b73c09d5317&_x_zm_rtaid=gY3TYGc8TEGReTZLZiqmRQ.1775604630317.91d44f27e37a76e2c108b030591ffeb5&_x_zm_rhtaid=971)
This program was built with one clear goal in mind:
to give pitchers the same consistent development opportunities that hitters have.
Through this program, athletes will:
• See measurable results
• Build arm strength in a safe, structured environment
• Improve mechanics and repeatability
• Develop consistent routines and habits
• Get quality, high-frequency reps that translate to game performance
Athletes will have the opportunity to train up to 8x per week based on their goals and skill level.
To help provide more clarity and answer any questions the Zoom Meeting is this Wednesday at 7:15 PM. During this call, I’ll walk through:
• Program structure
• Development approach
• Membership options
• Answer questions about the program
I’m incredibly excited about what this program can do for pitchers and the overall development culture at CAB. Looking forward to getting started.
Please reply to this email or send me a text so I can make sure to send you a reminder message before we go live.
Thank you,
Trevor Morgan
