What to Look for: Damper Operation
A factory-built fireplace has a lifespan, just like any appliance. Eventually parts start to deteriorate. One of those parts could be your damper. The damper helps keep your house air in and lets smoke out. This is an easy thing to check as a consumer. Does it close and open. Just make sure that the actual damper closes and not just the handle.

Completed Project.
Many chimneys are built this way with a slab on top. These coverings, however, are insufficient. They don't prevent water from dripping down the sides of chimneys and deteriorating the masonry. This chimney had a large stone fall off and down a two story roof.
A full coverage chimney cap with an overhang is the perfect solution. Call us today to book an inspection.

What to Look For: Foliage
It is our goal to eliminate fire risks. But, in the event of a chimney fire, it is crucial that you minimize the chance of it spreading. Trees that overhang chimneys or are within a 10ft radius are high risk for ignition when a chimney fire starts.
We won't trim your trees, but we can let you know if they need it! Call us out for an inspection 828-243-0098

What to Look For: Chimney Height
We call it the 3-2-10 rule. The termination of the flue must be:
3 Feet out of the roof
2 Feet taller than anything within
10 Feet
If you can't tell whether or not your chimney meets this rule, give us a call! 828-243-0098

What to Look For: Discoloration
Discoloration and vegetation growth are the two easiest signs to spot. These are clear indicators that your chimney is taking on water. Bricks and masonry can be like a sponge, and you might not notice the effects inside for a while.
Catch these issues early! Book us for an inspection today, WNC's Chimney Water Leak Experts.

Not all chimney coverings are created equal.
This slab was supported by pillars and had a great aesthetic appeal. BUT! It did not have the necessary overhang or coverage to prevent water intrusion. We got a call from this family saying that one of those large stones had fallen from the chimney off of the roof. No one was injured, but we knew that slab had to go.
The cap we installed has a corbelled drip edge to protect the stone from water intrusion. It also has a sleek, hip and ridge design with powder coating to top it off.
Don't delay! If your chimney looks like the first picture, call us to schedule an inspection!
