After what we all just watched in Canoga Park, a lot of LA guardians are suddenly aware of how fast loud sounds + fear can turn into something awful.

Fireworks, sirens, shouting, gunshots – your dog’s nervous system doesn’t separate them.

In SGV/LA, summer means:
• More cars, scooters, and skateboards
• Kids home later, more yelling and play outside
• Early fireworks and illegal firecrackers
• Displaced wildlife setting other dogs off

For a sound‑sensitive dog, every unplanned scare with no plan adds up to:
• More chronic stress
• Lower and lower thresholds
• Bigger reactions to smaller sounds

If your dog already reacts to noises, don’t wait until July 3 to start helping them.

For the next 7–10 days, try this mini‑plan:

1. Daily 3–5 minute “noise & snacks” session (in a safe room)

• Pick a room your dog can relax in (not right by the front door or windows).
• Once a day, play low‑volume sounds (fireworks, traffic, bangs) on your phone or TV.
• Keep it easy enough that your dog can still eat and breathe normally.
• While the sounds play, quietly feed tiny treats or give a gentle chew.

Goal: “I hear that → good stuff happens → my body can stay under control.”

2. One early‑evening “sanctuary drill”

• Pick the time of day things usually start getting loud in your neighborhood.
• Take your dog into that same safe room.
• Turn on a fan and/or white noise / calming music.
• Give a chew or lick mat while life (kids, cars, scooters) happens elsewhere.

Goal: “When the world gets loud, I go to this place and my job is to relax.”

3. What NOT to do

• No dragging your dog toward loud sounds to “get them used to it.”
• No punishing barking or shaking from fear – that teaches “scary sound + scary human.”

You’re not being “soft.” You’re giving their nervous system a chance to catch up before July hits.
If your dog already reacts to sounds and you want a clear 7–10 day prep outline for your house, DM me “NOISE” and I’ll send it to you + invite you to a free Calm Reset Call so we can map this to your dog and your layout.
