A Brush with Adventure Camp Day 1...our Intrepid Adventurers saved a goblin from the clutches of death (riches were promised!), defeating the town guards as they made their escape. As night closed in, our Druid aided an injured wolf and learned the rest of his pack is still held captive. Will our party go for the gold, or save the wolves? Is there time to do both?! Tomorrow we search for the Tower but our Barbarian keeps a distrustful eye on our "Friendly Goblin". And we painted!

Life has left Mandy and Elizabeth otherwise occupied today, so I've got photos to share of new releases and recent restocks and (of course) some stuff that I just think is neat. -Cody 😁

Our young engineers learned about circuits, used Play Dough to create light, and built their own flashlights. An extra special thank you goes to our Guest Scientist William for explaining the science of electricity and all the encouragement and assistance!

Looking for ways to beat the heat? We will be opening up a few spots for kids to join our Build a Flashlight class starting at 4:30pm Monday June 29th. Learn about circuitry, make your own flashlight and end with a brief hands on lesson about the relationship between the sun and earth. Lesson geared for ages 7+. $25 for the session, flashlight included.

Build Your Own Flashlight!

Using Ambessa Play DIY Flashlight kits, kids will be learn the about electrical circuits and kinetic energy all while building their own flashlights. We will then be conducting experiments with light and shadows and learning how shadows are earth's natural clocks. Lessons are geared towards kids 7-10 yo but the event is not limited to that age group.

We will be joined by our Guest Young Scientist, William Heise, an aspiring astrophysicist who recently had his article "Galaxies or Black Holes: A Cosmic Chicken-and-Egg Problem" published in The Journal of Young Physicist (link in the comments). William will be assisting throughout the event and loves to share his enthusiasm for science.

There will be two sessions to choose from: Monday June 29th 4:30-5:30 or Wednesday August 12th 4:30-5:30. Cost is $25/participant and does include the flashlight kit.
