Are we on the right track?

I get this question a lot.

This summer, I spent a lot of time at the ballpark (okay, probably too much) coaching and watching my three boys play.

There were plenty of highlights:

A first tee ball game (if you ask him, the snack was the highlight)

Pitching 5 innings for the first time

Batting .500 in a tournament

And then there were the not-so-fun parts: giving up a home run, making an error in a big moment, and plenty more.

That’s baseball — ups and downs, but you show up the next day ready to play again. I am constantly asking my boys some version of, "are we getting better?"

Being a financial advisor isn’t much different.

Wins worth celebrating.

Setbacks that test patience.

And always another “game” tomorrow to keep moving forward.

My role? To be a coach through it all — the good and the not-so-good — and to keep the big picture of progress in focus.
