Happy 4/20 Day!

Sadly, another 4/20 day arrives without the Republican majority taking up the Democratic bill to fully legalize cannabis in WI--something the vast majority of our state supports.
Our ma*****na legalization bill would generate $300 million annually from legal w**d sales within five years and $60 million of those annual profits would help fund projects in local municipalities.⁣

After November, wouldn't you like to see WI taking advantage of(and regulating) this industry? Revenue, safety, education, pain management and yes, recreation are all possible.

Wow! The numbers speak for themselves.

Congratulations to all the winners and appreciation for all who step up to run. It's not easy and regardless of your political positions, the bravery and vulnerability it takes to put yourself out there should be commended.

But, yah for Democratic trends! 🩵

What to expect on the 2026 Spring Election Day in Wisconsin 04/07/2026

Polls are OPEN!

Wisconsin please get out the vote and support Judge Chris Taylor, Public School referendums and candidates for school board, city council and county board who lead with compassion, integrity, facts and a belief that "we all do better when we all do better."

And don't forget to thank your election workers for their dedication and passion for our democratic process!

Happy Election Eve! Before you turn in tonight, make a voting plan for tomorrow. Before work? Lunch break? After work? You decide!

Tomorrow's Election Day results in WI will depend on turn out.
Specifically who decides to turn out.

Absentee ballots and early, in-person voting are down nearly 50% in parts of the state. This could mean many things (lack of interest & information, less spending in the WI Supreme Court race, folks heeding the dementia President's false remarks that absentee voting is fraudulent, general disdain for politic in general now as the work falls apart--you name it).

What is important to remember is that the Wisconsin Supreme Court race is ALWAYS vital to laws governing Wisconsin justice and democracy. We must elect Chris For Justice (Chris Taylor).

Think your local races are not important? Think again. I guarantee you that the things that irk you the most in your community are decided by your county board or city council members. Local leaders impact your daily life in far more ways than state legislators like me.

And school board? Anti-public education conservatives are coming for you. Moms of Liberty, AFP, and local conservative groups like the Fox Valley Initiative want nothing more than to destroy public schools from within by withholding resources so they can claim failure and the privatize schools- controlling what is taught and giving taxpayers no say.

And finally, I can say without a single doubt, that the Appleton Area School District and the 72 districts across the state who have an operational referendum on the ballot to fund their needs, are truly squeezing the last bit of every expense to try and meet student needs. The state has spent 16 years literally starving schools of the money required to provide for student learning needs, safety and well-being, all while expecting better and better results and then pointing fingers when schools fail to live up to their demands. We may have fewer students but those students have GREATER needs. Please help our schools do what is right by our kids and VOTE YES tomorrow to support Appleton Area Public Schools.

A reminder that you need to have a valid ID to vote. You can register to vote on Election Day as long as you are a citizen and have lived in WI for at least 28 days. You have the right to leave your workplace and vote (up to 3 hrs) and not be fired. Information on where to vote and more is available at:

Learn the facts and don't forget to VOTE on April 7th!

On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, our community will consider approving a nonrecurring operational referendum. AASD is asking voters to approve $15 million per year for 4 years, beginning in 2026–27 and ending after the 2029–30 school year.

The estimated tax impact is about $15 annually for a $100,000 home, or approximately $45 per year for the average Appleton-area home valued at $300,000.

If approved, referendum funds would support:
✅ maintaining existing programs and services and addressing the district’s ongoing budget deficit
✅ a school counselor in every neighborhood school, every day, and a 50% increase in access to social workers, allowing students to receive help faster when facing mental health, family, or social challenges that are barriers to learning
