How to Quiet Your Mind
Whether you're stuck in traffic, at the office, or just trying to get your life together, it's easy to feel like your mind is spinning out of control. And if that happens, it can be hard to get back on track.
But there are some simple things you can do anytime and anywhere to help quiet your mind and get back on track:
Get into a good position: Make sure your body is aligned so that you're not slouching or leaning forward. Sit up straight with your shoulders back and relaxed. This will help keep your brain balanced, too!
Get in touch with your breathing: Get comfortable on whatever surface you're sitting on (or standing), close your eyes, and focus on your breath coming in and going out through your nostrils. Inhale through the nose for four counts, hold for two counts, then exhale through the mouth for six counts. Repeat this pattern until you feel more relaxed!
Detach from your thoughts: As soon as you notice yourself thinking about something else, gently bring yourself back to the breath pattern we just discussed above!
Practice these three steps every day and before long you'll find yourself feeling calmer than ever before.
