Toilet paper is specifically designed to break down quickly in water, while many wipes remain intact much longer.
Even wipes labeled as "flushable" can contribute to sewer blockages, equipment damage, and costly maintenance throughout the wastewater system.
A simple rule to remember:

✔ P**p
✔ Toilet Paper
Everything else belongs in the trash.

A properly maintained septic system can last for decades and help prevent costly repairs.

Here are a few simple tips to help keep your septic system working properly:
✅ Pump your septic tank regularly
✅ Conserve water and fix leaks promptly
✅ Only flush the 3 Ps: P*e, P**p, and Toilet Paper
✅ Keep grease, fats, oils, wipes, and chemicals out of drains
✅ Protect your drain field from vehicles, structures, and tree roots
✅ Watch for warning signs such as slow drains, odors, or wet spots in the yard.

Remember: No additive can replace routine pumping and maintenance.

A little prevention today can help avoid expensive repairs tomorrow!

🪳💧 Starting today AJSD will contract services to treat sanitary sewer manholes throughout the City of Apache Junction to help control cockroach populations within the sewer system.

The treatment process involves applying an EPA-approved product inside publicly accessible manholes to help control cockroach populations and support a cleaner, healthier community. The long-lasting treatment is designed to remain effective for up to 24 months while minimizing environmental impact.
Residents may notice contractors working throughout the City during this process. These preventative treatments help protect public infrastructure, reduce pests within the sewer system, and maintain the overall health of the wastewater system serving our community. 👷‍♂️🩵

Did you know that pouring Fats, Oils & Grease (FOGs) down your kitchen drain can cause major sewer backups and costly pipe damage? 😬🧻
Even if grease goes down hot, it cools and hardens inside sewer pipes — creating nasty clogs known as “fatbergs” 🧱🚽
✅ Instead:
🥓 Let grease cool
🥫 Pour it into a container or can

🚗 Never leave children or pets in vehicles — temperatures can become deadly in minutes
👀 Check on neighbors, especially older adults and vulnerable individuals
Know the signs of heat-related illness:
⚠️ Heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness
🚨 Heat stroke (medical emergency): confusion, high body temperature, no sweating
If you experience symptoms of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
