Little Daisy Development
Noticing your baby prefers to tilt their head to one side?
Take a look at their strength. Tilt them side to side in your arms or on a ball as shown in this video and look to see if they lift their head symmetrically.
👶🏼 By 5 months babies should be able to hold their head well above the midline when tipped to the side parallel to the ground.
🌟Falling below midline after 5 months is a sign of weakness.
🌟Asymmetric head righting at any age is a sign of muscle imbalances.
Seek early support from an infant physical therapist to address weakness and asymmetries to set your baby up for success.
We know the earlier the intervention the better the outcome and the quicker the treatment. 💯

I have heard this comment many times from moms in my clinic “My baby will not stay on their back” or “they keep rolling to the side when I lay them down”
✨✨✨This comment screams BODY TENSION to me!!!✨✨✨
Just knowing the baby rolls to the side is not enough information. I have so many other questions.
🖤Are they always rolling to the same side?
🖤Can they turn their head to each side without their body rolling?
🖤Do they hold their trunk in a rotated or sidebent position?
🖤Can they relax their legs down or do they seem stuck with their hips up?
🖤Are you noticing baby had a hard time nursing on one breast? (Feeding is very closely related to the body)
Remember, YOU are the EXPERT ON YOUR BABY. Spend time observing their movements today.
If you have questions or concerns it is time to seek support from an expert in infant development.
💯Early intervention is key in setting your baby up for success.
When I see a baby in my clinic with these concerns I will provide a full evaluation of the baby head to toe to get to the root cause of the postural issues and asymmetric movement. Most babies presenting with body tension benefit from bodywork to address the restrictions that are influencing how they move.
🙌🏻The goal is to promote SYMMETRIC UNRESTRICTED MOVEMENT so your baby can more OPTIMALLY EXPLORE THEIR ENVIRONMENT and proceed with their natural gross motor development.🙌🏻
