Due to a cast member receiving a positive test for COvid 19 on Friday, performances of The Bride Elect Friday, Saturday and Sunday were reluctantly cancelled. A recording of The Bride Elect will be available once the cast can reassemble safely. Please go to comicoperaguild.org to learn about availabilty. WE apologize to our fans for this sad development.

John Philip Sousa’s THE BRIDE ELECT was premiered 123 years ago in Detroit, and made quite a splash. Here’s some of what the Detroit Free press had to say:

“Probably no American composer occupies the place in the hearts of the people held by Sousa....”

"Ah Papagallo, You are in a Scrape," thrills along the nerves and accelerates the blood…”

“The “Snow Baby” …is touching and plaintive, melodiously beautiful and exquisitely phrased.”

“The most stimulating incident of the performance, however, was the march "Unchain the Dogs of War"
