Steuben County EMS

Today marked our final mass casualty training event with the Boy Scouts at Camp Chief Little Turtle. It was an exciting, fast paced afternoon filled with hands on learning, teamwork, and plenty of controlled chaos!

A huge thank you to the Steuben County Emergency Management Agency for organizing this outstanding four week program. It provided an incredible learning experience for both the campers and the adult volunteers.

We're hopeful this experience inspired a few future first responders to answer the call and serve their communities.

Today, Steuben County EMS was proud to assist the Steuben County Emergency Management Agency with a mock mass casualty incident at the Boy Scouts camp in Pleasant Lake.

Throughout the exercise, Scouts were challenged on emergency preparedness, first aid, patient management, and leadership skills in a realistic training environment.

This was an outstanding opportunity to teach young people the importance of emergency preparedness, wilderness first aid, and the role of EMS in responding to critical incidents.

Training never stops.

Today, our on-duty crews took time to refresh their knowledge and skills on the various patient transport devices and options carried on our ambulances.

From routine patient movements to complex extrications, ensuring our providers are familiar and proficient with all available equipment helps us deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Regular equipment reviews and hands-on training are essential to maintaining operational readiness and providing the best possible service to the residents and visitors of our community.
