Howling Acres Farm

This giant is a true 16lb turkey after processing. It is larger than any 20lb turkey we’ve ever gotten from the store. (This is just getting basted after a night with a dry rub.)

At Howling Acres Farm we love our birds. We raised our Broad-breasted turkeys from 1 day old. But our heritage breeds— royal palm, bronze and bourbon reds we hatched out ourselves. That means for 24 days we waited and tended our incubators, and for another 6 days waited to see who hatched.

From their very first bites food we made sure they weren’t taking in any hormones. For the land the graze we decided against fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. Nature already has a solution to all its own problems so we decided to work with nature.

Howling Acres Farm used to be a part of a larger to***co, blueberry, and pig farm. What was once rolling hills of grass with giant oak trees offer shade has become a 6 acre thicket.

Instead of taking a bulldozer or spraying herbicides we decided to use animals. Working in rotation, our pigs, goats, emus, turkeys, ducks, guineas, and chickens clear section after section of woods.

Our animals are active. They forage as much as the want. They rest and play as much as they want. This makes our poultry quite tasty. By ensuring that our animals have a good happy life, we know that what we are eating is good for us.

As we kick off our poultry sales, we are offering chickens weekly for $25. We find that 4-5lbs are the most tender but do sell up to 8lbs as well.

We have thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys. Broadbreasted and royal palms are $125. Bourbon Red Christmas turkeys are $180.

We are at Dr Young’s Pond Berry Farm every Saturday from 9-12.

We’ve got 16 and 20lb birds ready to process. If you want to reserve one for thanksgiving you can do so now! All our poultry is raised without hormone, and is never exposed to fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides.

The turkeys are starting to get ready for processing! Next week we will process a few 16 and 20lb birds. Let us know if you want to reserve those sizes or if you have a specific weight in mind. Once reserved you can then up anytime until thanksgiving.
