**GORDY UPDATE **

Well he is officially out of the woods! He was released yesterday and able to go to a foster home for some more comfortable recovery. Poor little guy is definitely all bruised and battered but he's alive and he's happy about that! He still walking a little funny and he's going to be in a cone for quite a while. But he's comfortable and clearly happy. Again I want to thank everybody that has donated so far towards his vet bills. He needed a lot of care to survive this and we would not have been able to do it without everyone's help!

While some dogs find homes quickly, others wait...and wait.

Sabo has been looking for his forever family for **literal years**. Despite being an incredible dog, he’s still hoping someone will finally choose him.

Sabo is a special guy who needs a special match. He’s looking for an adult home with no young children. He would likely thrive with someone who is home often — a stay-at-home, semi-retired, or work-from-home person who can appreciate all the love and loyalty he has to give. He is good with other dogs of all sizes and would love a play pal. Sabo is great for the person that likes to be outdoorsy and adventurous but also wants to cuddle on the couch.

Could this Sunday finally be Sabo’s day?

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, now is the perfect time. Submit your application ahead of time at **alaskananimalrescuefriends.org** and come meet Sabo along with many other amazing rescue dogs.

**ON TRIAL!!**

Skye the German Shepherd sure is a pretty girl. She is active and ready to go on whatever adventures her people are! She is smart and loyal almost to a fault. There is no question she would follow her person to the ends of the earth! Skye is housebroken and crate trained. She knows her commands and once she bonds to her peraon she is a great off leash hiker. If you are looking for a great companion please help on our website to complete an adoption application and come to our Clinic to meet her!

**GORDY UPDATE!**

Spoke to the vet overnight. His surgery went well, as I posted before. Although he is still in rough shape he is improving little by little. They were able to remove his chest tube last night and he is breathing better which is a big relief. They are weaning him down on his pain management so that he can hopefully go home soon. He even took a few bites of food last night, something very Gordy-ish for sure! We want to thank everyone that has donated towards Gordys treatment so far. You have literally helped save his life as there is no way we could have afforded his surgery and care without you!

*** HELP SAVE GORDY!!***

Gordy update..
He survived surgery! When they got in there there was a lot going on. Turned out that besides the hernias he also had lacerations to his liver, spleen, and diaphragm. Once everything was sewn up he started doing much better very quickly. It's all looking good so far but he is still very much in intensive care. I will update as we get more news of how he's doing today. Thank you to everybody that has donated so far and helped make this all possible. Between what came in on the fundraiser, venmo donations, and calls directly to the vet we have been able to at least reach the estimate low end of just over $5000. We still have a significant way to go to cover his surgery cost and care costs but we are doing good so far! Thank you to everybody that is helping so much! The vet said once his pain was under control they could see his sweet personality poking through. I will be posting some more videos and pictures of our happy little Gordy today so people can see what they're helping save.

Gordy has always been the sweetest little guy you have ever met. He is just always happy and greets everything with a vigorously wagging tail. Today he unfortunately tried to say hello to a much larger dog and the poor little guy didnt have any warning, he was just chomped and left confused, terrified, and in a lot of pain. He is now at the emergency vet where we have been told he will need emergency surgery to repair several hernia tears in his abdomen as well as his sternum. They are still running labs and waiting on xrays to see if anything else is going on but his immediate need is to stabilize him and repair the known damage. Yes, we know that surgery to save him is a lot and we will have people that question if it is really worth spending this much on one dog. But anyone that has met Gordy and seen his happy smile and permanently wagging tail knows that there is no question that this little guy is worthy of every penny. Please help us save him.

Skye is affectionate, loves people, gets along well with other dogs, and is ready to trade the beaches of Baja for hiking trails, snowy adventures, and a home of her own.
