The rescue team had spent hours searching the rocky cliffs of Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, after visitors reported an abandoned pet carrier near the edge.

Inside the carrier was a frightened tuxedo cat with a black coat, white chest, white paws, and bright yellow eyes. Despite enduring a fall of roughly 380 feet, the cat—later identified as Mirage—was alive. While her owners had tragically died in the fall, Mirage survived with fractured ribs, broken teeth, and other injuries. She was carefully transported to a nearby animal hospital before being transferred to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, where she made a remarkable recovery and later found a loving new home. Her story became a symbol of resilience in the midst of heartbreaking loss.
