✨ Community Champions: Heather Gatti (Kúng Jáadaa)
This month, SALT is honored to spotlight Kúng Jáadaa Heather Gatti, an incredible leader from Southeast Alaska whose work reflects service, advocacy, community, and deep care for future generations.

Heather brings heart and purpose to everything she does — from her role in tribal government to the way she shows up for her family, her community, and the lands and waters she calls home. Her story is rooted in culture, connection, and the belief that leadership is about service.

In her own words, Heather shares what motivates her, the values that guide her, and the responsibility she feels to help strengthen communities today while honoring those who came before and those who will come after.

One question we also asked Heather was:
Is there a community, place, or group that you feel especially connected to?

Heather shared:
“I feel deeply connected to Southeast Alaska and to the tribal communities that call this place home. Living in a small rural community and raising my children here has strengthened that connection even more.

There is something special about places where people show up for one another — where food, knowledge, laughter, and responsibility are shared across generations. Those connections remind me that community is not just where we live; it is how we care for one another.

I also feel connected to the many Indigenous leaders, advocates, and community members working to strengthen our communities and protect our cultures, lands, and ways of life. They remind me that while there is always more work to do, none of us are doing it alone.”

As our Creative Director, Kelsi has been a driving force behind so many of SALT’s design projects. She has a true gift for bringing spaces to life, whether she’s working her magic with finishes, textures, furniture, accessories, 3D renderings, or graphic design. Basically, if it needs to look amazing, Kelsi is your person.

We are so lucky to have her talent, creativity, and leadership on our team — and even luckier to have the wonderful human behind it all.

When she’s not creating beautiful things at SALT, you can find Kelsi curled up with a good book and her two dachshunds, traveling somewhere new with her husband, or tending to her garden and many houseplants.

Kelsi, you are truly a gem, and we are so thankful for the last 12 years with you. Here’s to a bright future, more beautiful designs, and many more adventures ahead!
