Lana, this is so well-deserved. Your vision and leadership turned a powerful idea into something real: a place where thousands of kids, students, and visitors will spark their curiosity, fall in love with wildlife, and grow into the next generation of conservation stewards.

If you attended the Visit Anchorage Seymour Awards, you may have noticed MSI Account Manager Mercy Kuria. You may not know she is a fashion designer! Her gown, shown here on the red carpet at the "Night of the Stars"-themed event, is her own design. Read her story of this incredible piece below:

"The fabric was sourced from Cameroon, Africa. The leaf pattern tells a story of becoming. The inspiration came from the transformation of a butterfly - from larva to a caterpillar cocoon to emergence. In that powerful moment just before it spreads its wings and flies, you see a shape that looks like a leaf; delicate yet bold, soft yet becoming. The silhouette flows with grace - modest, regal without being loud. In this way, I wanted to elevate African luxury to a bigger stage."

Mission accomplished, Mercy. You were resplendent.

Thank you to the members of Visit Anchorage who came out to the Business Exchange networking event last week. We were honored to host the event at our offices and enjoyed visiting with business owners, staff and friends who serve Alaska visitors so well and keep our state economy growing strong!
