Cold and flu advice from your local cleaning service: 1. USE your dishwasher. Hand washing does not sanitize dishes and silverware like your dishwasher does. 2. Buy a big pack of toothbrushes at Costco or Sam's and replace your toothbrush often when you are ill. You can often re-infect when you use the same toothbrush when you're sick. 3. Vacuum at least once a week, often times you are suffering from dust allergies when you think you're sick. 4. Wash your hands often. We still have one or two regular openings on the schedule. Here's the recipe for our ever popular window cleaner. You will need an empty gallon jug, we use windshield washer fluid jugs, half a bottle of rubbing alcohol, two cups of ammonia. Pour those into the jug and fill it up with water with a few drops of blue food coloring (optional). We buy the smaller spray dispensers at the hardware store and there you have it! A much better product than what's in the stores, at a fraction of the cost.

Today's cleaning tip: if you're using one of those "magic eraser" sponges, don't use bleach with them. They must have ammonia as an ingredient because we are noticing hydrochloric gas fumes as we are working today. Windows are open and fans are going! Lesson learned.
