American Update

Anticipation filled me as I left for the hospital to pick up Suzie and our newborn twins. The nursery was finished, a special dinner was cooking, and balloons were in the car. Once at the hospital, my happiness was suddenly replaced by confusion.

Suzie was missing. Only the twins and a letter remained.

My hands shook as I read:
"Goodbye. Take care of them. Ask your mother WHY she did this to me."

I was left stunned, repeating the words. What had happened to Suzie?

With uncertainty, I asked the nurse, "Where is my wife?"

The nurse hesitated. "She left this morning. She said you were informed."

Unsure what to think, I brought the twins home, questioning every memory of Suzie’s pregnancy.

At home, my mother was there, holding a casserole and beaming. "Let me see my grandbabies!"

I took a step back. "Not now, Mom. What did you do to Suzie?" ⬇️

He was an ordinary, retired doctor, 65, cherished by everyone in the neighborhood for his kindness, honesty, and warm smile.

He lived alone—no wife, no children. His life had been dedicated to his profession, and every effort to start his own family had been unsuccessful.

One day, feeling nostalgic, he ventured to the old hospital where he had served as an obstetrician for years. The hospital had stood abandoned for 14 years, hidden on the outskirts of town.

Wandering through deserted hallways, he traced the walls with his hands, immersed in memories of delivering babies and reassuring anxious parents.

He arrived at the room where his locker had been. Because of the fire that closed the hospital, he never had a chance to collect his belongings. Discovering the locker still standing, he opened it and uncovered something unexpected: a letter.

He opened it, tears welling in his eyes. It was from a patient he recalled clearly ⬇️

A week ago, my husband's son from before our marriage came to stay for the holidays. My husband, who divorced his ex-wife nine years ago, maintains a positive relationship with his 16-year-old. This used to be great when he was younger—he behaved well and was very sweet. That has now completely changed.

Now, he's entirely UNRULY. He THROWS PARTIES while we're away visiting friends, TRASHES the place, and NEVER bothers to pick up after himself. He recently forced my EIGHT-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER to clean his room for him.

Yesterday, I learned that, during our last weekend away, he organized a party and LOCKED MY KIDS (eight and six years old) away for the whole night so his friends wouldn’t be disturbed.

Worse still, my husband avoids confronting him and acts as though there are no problems at all.

So, on a day when my husband was at work, I decided to resolve things on my own. ⬇️
