It's TOP TIP TUESDAY! SWITCH'D RECRUITING is always ready and able to help clients and candidates with tips to succeed...
Here are three main tips to help a Workers' Compensation (WC) Claims Examiner excel in their role:
1. Stay Updated on Jurisdictional Regulations
WC laws and regulations vary by state and can change frequently. It's crucial to stay informed about jurisdictional updates to ensure compliance and proper claim handling.
Actionable Advice: Subscribe to newsletters or attend webinars focused on WC law updates and consider pursuing certifications like the SIP (Self-Insured Plans) or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter).
2. Maintain Strong Communication Skills
Effective communication is key to managing relationships with clients, injured workers, attorneys, and medical providers. Clear and empathetic communication can reduce misunderstandings and improve claim outcomes.
Actionable Advice: Practice active listening, tailor your communication style to your audience, and keep all parties informed about claim status and next steps.
3. Prioritize Organization and Time Management
Claims examiners often handle multiple cases simultaneously, making it essential to stay organized to meet deadlines and avoid errors.
Actionable Advice: Use claims management software effectively, create a priority system for tasks, and set reminders for critical deadlines like medical follow-ups or legal filings.
These tips can help a WC Claims Examiner balance efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism, contributing to both individual and team success. Let me know if you'd like to explore additional strategies or resources!

It's TOP TIP TUESDAY! Today I have a great tip on how to answer questions when going into an interview.
As always...KNOW YOUR WORTH... We do!
When answering interview questions, always use the STAR method to structure your responses. This approach helps you give clear, concise, and focused answers that highlight your skills and experiences.
Situation: Describe the context of the situation you were in. What was the challenge or task at hand?
Task: Explain your specific role in that situation. What was your responsibility?
Action: Describe the actions you took to address the challenge or complete the task. Focus on the steps you personally took.
Result: Share the outcome of your actions, ideally highlighting a positive result or improvement. Use numbers or specifics when possible.
For example: Question: "Can you tell me about a time you handled a difficult client?"
Answer:
Situation: "In my previous role, I had a client who was upset about a project delay due to unforeseen circumstances."
Task: "I was responsible for managing the relationship and addressing the client's concerns."
Action: "I immediately set up a meeting to listen to the client’s issues, reassured them that their concerns were heard, and worked with the internal team to expedite the completion of the project."
Result: "By keeping the client informed and delivering the project ahead of the new deadline, we regained their trust, and they continued to work with us on future projects."
