This is why both the Hamilton & Balloun facilities have gone into lock down during the 2022 & 2023 migratory seasons. This mitigates foot traffic in and out of the farms. Other biosecurity measures include using foot baths at entrances, showering in, and designated clothing and footwear, etc.

The impact of Avian Influenza has touched us all in some way. Dive into the stats: from March to April 2022, Iowa egg production took a dip from 1.04 billion to 853 million, and finally rose back up to 1.03 billion in October.

Iowa poultry and turkey farmers continue to be diligent in their biosecurity efforts. Migratory birds continue to increase the risk of farm flocks contracting this disease. The next time you're buying eggs, keep in mind their efforts and be thankful for the hard work of our farmers!

The spring semester may have ended, but classes at the farm haven’t! Summers we have COE are busier for the farm than any other semester! 🥳🐔

We would like to both congratulate and wish luck to these two ISU students and farm employees (Boston Gilpin & Valerie Rosales) as they start their Center of Excellence Scholarship and Internship program courses this week! 🥳👍🏼
