With the growing season winding down, we’re welcoming the quieter pace of winter with open arms. After months of early mornings and long days, we’re looking forward to soaking in the much-needed slowness, spending more time with family, and reflecting on the work we’ve done.

Every evening, Rowan, Sawyer, and I spend time covering our winter greens in the caterpillar tunnel. Simple tasks like these help keep our farm resilient, even when the weather throws us curveballs. Working alongside my boys is a reminder of how vital it is to connect the next generation to the food system.

From our longest drought in history to unseasonably warm stretches and early cold snaps, the weather has certainly been unpredictable. It’s a reminder that farming—and life—always requires us to adapt, reflect, and move forward.

As the seasons become more erratic, it’s clear that we need more adaptable small farms and fewer large-scale chemical operations. Reconnecting with your farmers and the land is more important than ever. Visit your local farmers markets. Support local growers. Ask questions. Rebuild that connection with where your food comes from. Regenerative practices and small farms aren’t just the way forward; they’re essential to our future.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the winter farmers market this year!
