Many of you have asked me if I know what's going on with the alpha position for the females in the Junction Butte Pack. There's so much happening this time of year as the females are getting ready to mate. Even on a normal year the Junction Butte Wolves often have multiple litters in the same pack so on a year like this where there's no clear dominance I am anticipating that we'll see the same thing come spring. Some of you may recall that as the females give birth they become quite aggressive so if things haven't settled out before that time then certainly in the spring we should see someone rise to the top. 1478 F is pictured here a couple months ago when it was a bit warmer but she is certainly at 2 years old one of the several wolves in the pack that is likely to have puppies.
