“If the world had any ends, Belize would be one of them. It is not on the way from anywhere to anywhere else!” Alford Huxley (1934)

For centuries now, Belize has enchanted humankind, body and soul. This observation from decades ago captures the sense of Belize (then British Honduras) as a remote, beautifully secluded place—an “end of the world” that feels untouched and apart from the everyday hustle.

What a blessing! Another family is blessed with a home. Praises to God for answering another prayer. Thanks also to La Jolla Presbyterian Church for sharing with this family. It’s awesome for churches to share blessings with needy families. May God continue to bless each and everyone.

Fun Fact Friday!

Historic Belize city harbour view by William F. Avery circa 1911. Foreground is HMS Customs and Excise, then the British Honduras Company, later known as Belize Estate and Produce Company. Middle left with arched support columns is the Belize Central Market . Top middle is the Belize City Swing Bridge, distant top right twin spires Holy Redeemer Cathedral.

The country we call today Belize has amazing and singular historical features. It has a long and convoluted history of vague and imaginary boundary definitions and names. Variously being called Balix, Belice, Bay of Honduras, Honduras, British Yucatan, Balise, Belise, and Bellese!
