Memorial Day will have near normal temperatures, but southwest to west winds will increase. Drier conditions will continue through most of Monday, and with the stronger winds, precautions should be taken with open flames. The next cold front will arrive Monday afternoon at the coast, and will bring rain mostly to areas west of the Cascades Monday into Tuesday.

Members of the U.S. Forest Service Modoc National Forest , the forest LEO and forest fire personnel had the opportunity to engage in the Rhonda Haslip Invitational at Modoc High School's football field today, participating in numerous games and races. The event drew support from partner agencies, including CHP Alturas and CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit. Smokey Bear was in attendance, interacting with participants to share crucial fire prevention messages, emphasizing the dangers of playing with matches and the importance of reporting fires by telling someone or calling 911.
